actually human eye detects frequency not wavelength. lenght of the wave may change (water, air) but frequency remains the same.

In regards to visible light: "Every color has its own wavelength"
- It's actually more accurate to say that "Every wavelength has its own color" because the vast majority of colors around us are combinations of wavelengths and an oversimplification of nature. Check out Helmholtz and Herring's discoveries.
