In Colours II, Shaun van Steÿn explores the fundamental variations that life has to offer and how we handle them. This is his second invitation to exhibit at the Lombardi Cancer Center, annexed to Georgetown University Hospital. Shaun loves the photographic medium, using both the wet dark room and dry digital room to create vivid, enduring imagery through the magic of colour and light. His vibrant, artistic expression balances inner and outer vision with profound personal experience.
Born in London, England during the 1943 Blitz and a victim of repeated air bombing raids, Shaun sustained serious damage to his eardrums. Ever optimistic, Shaun transformed the challenge of impaired hearing into heightened visual awareness and profound levels of perception. He was raised in extraordinary circumstances, by mother Doorn van Steÿn, accomplished actress and international ice skating star, and stepfather Roger Moore, well known actor. Beyond the celebrity and glamour, Shauns parents provided adventure and travel, introducing him to distant cultures and languages and indoctrinating him as a citizen of the world.
Great work Shaun! Thanks for inspiring those who see it.
