Lister D running a Wico/Wipac A Magneto Conversion

My trusty Lister D type had been out of action for almost a year since donating its good Lucas RS1 coil to my B type. With replacement RS1s and SR1s now commanding silly money and the cost of a coil rewind (£70ish) hard to justify on a low value engine I was keen to explore the alternatives. Wico/Wipac Series A magnetos tend to be much more plentiful and can still be picked up cheaply if you're patient. I managed to buy two Wipacs for £11, one with a genuine adapter plate, the other with the less common Lister compatible input arrangement and both with good coils. So the Lister lives again!

Now just need to source a points cover and spring clip and she's good to go.

Thanks for the comments guys. No impulse on this mag, could've bodged something up but the set up here is exactly how Wipac offered it as an aftermarket replacement for the Lucas.

Nice one Nigel that will last forever :) now will it start by flicking it over compression, that is if it still has the impulse drive?

I might start my Lister D up tomorrow :)

Ive seen afew D's with the Wico Wipac A series and also a Lister A and a L with them.
