The two pronunciations CAN be used interchangeably (you still understood me right?).
That being said I am fully aware of my improper pronunciation in this video. Force of habit really, most of the people I talk to are rather poorly educated anglophones. Like it or not their language habits rub off on me, and I'm lucky I can record with little to no accent.

The company didn't name the ruins after themselves, they named them after the actual location, Bethesda Maryland.
Bethesda Softworks is named after the city the were founded in.
