Vintage Super8mm Home Movies that Erol's Video made into a production for me way back when - In an effort to preserve our Washington area bus history, I took my old movie camera and captured some oldies, while they were still around. These are GM New Look Fishbowls in the Silverside Phase l Paint Scheme. Rush Hour back then was a treasure trove of old veteran equipment that the WMATA inherited when it took over the four privately owned bus operators in the DC area. The WMATA roster numbers operating then were primarily: 6500-6600 series (ex-DC Transit); 1400-1500 series (ex-AB&W Transit Company), 3600 and 3800 series (ex-WMA Transit Company), and 2500-2600 (ex-WV&M Coach Company). These older buses filled the extra runs that operated on the AM / PM tripper blocks, ....as newer equipment mostly covered the base blocks / day and evening service.---- Copyright Circa 1989.

  • Nice video. I would like to know if you have any videos with the original sound of the buses?

  • @landoverdivision321 Thanks! My old Super8 home movies are silent. However, in the 1990s, I had a newer SONY video camera with a much clearer picture and sound. I am working on getting some of those on YT sometime soon.

  • Great your video ;-))

    Thumbs up

  • @calleyne90 True! I wish I had included the old AM Generals, which were almost extinct by then. But I think a few were in storage. I think maybe a few Neoplans were still going then, as well? Some very rare Metrobuses were the old Gilligs. Do you remember those? They didn't last very long for some reason.

  • @calleyne90 We didn't have any of those yet back then. They were just starting to take delivery of the first batch of 8700 series Flxibles.

  • awesome footage, looks pro, maybe one day we will all reminisce about the Flx B's,orion v's,vi's,and the 7's backfires and how nothing roared like a diesel, unfortunately these will be my memories as i was deprived of all the REAL buses due to age
