Monsters, Inc. 2 Release Date Changed: Breaking Dawn Rules Thanksgiving Holiday

Monsters Inc. 2 backs down from Breaking Dawn. More on the box office battle you won't see next.

Hi everyone, welcome back to Clevver Movies. I'm your host, Amanda Janner.

Well, it looks like PIXAR is backing out of a box office battle with Breaking Dawn. Word from Disney is that its original launch date of November 16th 2012 for Monsters Inc. 2 is a no-go. Could it have anything to do with Breaking Dawn opening the same day? Summit Entertainment announced the final Twilight installment will begin its final farewell on the 16th, so Disney stepped into action. Disney's upping Monster's release two weeks, debuting the film on November 2nd instead. It seems like a smart move, with the Monsters Inc. sequel poised perfectly for the kiddie Halloween circuit.

So we'll have to do without a monster-vampire bloodbath at the box office for now. But so far, Twilight has caused animated movie houses to spiral, as DreamWorks then had to push back its movie The Guardians to November 21st, so to avoid an opening day competition with Monsters on the 2nd.
