Blender - Simple castle wall tutorial

One tutorial: How to make a simple castle wall without boolean operations

Okay, I admit it's a bit incoherent, but so ... "extrude" the key is E, "knife" is a key K, selecting and moving the mouse right button. Zooming and rotating the camera with the middle mouse button. I just have one small question, when your selecting your faces to extrude the tower, how do you get the dots to pop up?

hey when you clicked (K) you just drew a line and it subdivided but for me it just kept draping lines and after a few seconds it disapeared and nothing happened please help
