this scene is really spiritual for the audience but for ted levine it was just him rationalising his violent ways.

@GiantPetRat that's because you're supposed to not take it too literally. think about the context of the movie being larger than the characters, that the basic gist of every scene is about analyzing the thinking of mankind as a whole. especially after ww2, which was the absolute worst war in history, society has kind of lost it's mind and keeps trying to use defense mechanisms to deny what world they're living in.

@peterikarlstad meanwhile, these types exist with lots of money and power. they get off on it. being able to control nature themselves enough to affect certain outcomes no matter the cost, and they think they are working in god's honor when in fact there as close to evil as possible. they don't see a need for getting rid of war. they like the harsh hammer of their god smashing the weak and forging the strong rather than another means of progress. symbol of the crazed warhawk.

this scene is funny because leo has a childish pissed off expression on his face and ted has a sly i want to annoy this person expression on his.

Unbelievable scene...! Ted Levine looks like a blue eyed devil here, this is so profound and disturbing. Of all movie I remembered this scene the best.

Interesting stuff, good job but we need an actual ripped version of this scene. Get on that somebody, will you? Great.
Greatest scene in the movie. Period.

This is something Charlie Manson could have said. This monologue knocked me out of my seat (or sofa). It was worth watcing if only for this. It´s so profound. Only you should replace the word "God" with "nature". Because we´re part of nature and in nature all organisms fight each other to survive. You may like it or not, but that´s the way it is. Nature loves violence.
