During times of an economic crisis, big cities have it hard. However, for some smaller towns the situation looks bleaker. The people of Holyoke, Massachusetts, are struggling not to lose their last hope.

First of all i live here and i just want to say holyoke is not such a small town and there is a lot more to it. oh they forgot to mention the great parts of holyoke like mountain park, holyoke community college, heritage state park, city hall, the schools and their sports. Fuck these damn russians they dont know shit bout this place nor took the time to explore it. I admit im puerto rican but all of the people in Holyoke are not as they insist. so a big FUCK YOU to the russian bitch who did this

what this fails to mention is that Holyoke began to decline some 25+ yrs. ago when Hispanics started moving in; not taking care of properties, living off of welfare because they were having babies as young as 12 - 13 y.o.......

PART 2 - Along with that came the increase in crime and drugs. The well off middle and upper class families that lived in Holyoke for close to 50 y.o. were pulling up and moving out to get away from that environment. Many years ago, this city was featured on 60 Minutes in a segment called, "Why is Holyoke Burning?"........

PART 3 - the hispanics were intentionally burning down apt. buildings one by one until whole blocks were leveled, figuring the owners would build brand new buildings for them.... while the economy is effecting some businesses and people, the dying of this city started a long time ago. And take note, this news report was done by a "foreigner" for a russian station !

you can live in a small town and still make money - that's what the internet is for. Buy and sell on Ebay, trade stocks with a discount broker, learn something new etc.
