@suzukiracer99 I've been vaulting for a while now and I've competed internationally, and i've never done pull ups. They teach you the wrong motion for vaulting. There are many other exercises that teach you the right motion for vaulting and works your lats and shoulders. It helps you learn to control your body weight in a pull up position, not a pole vault position. I would try and explain some of the drills we do, but we made our own equipment (mostly) and do the "Petrov" model of pole vault

why does a pole vaulter need pull-ups?... does nothing for a pole vaulter

@twixbar It just is a good shoulder and lat exercise. And helps you learn to control your own body weight. The vault is primarily a pushing motion with the arms for an overhead press, but anytime you train pushing you have to train pulling. And shoulder joints need to be strengthened to keep them strong and injury free for any time you may not have a perfect vault and the pole pulls on your shoulders.
