27.01.10 - Rylee was 16mths old when she woke up after her sleep with a slight left side paralysis..Straight away our Gp ordered me to go to our hospital who admitted rylee for tests and scans. We were told after an MRI hat Rylee had a cancerous tumor the size of a mandarin in her right side of her brain and that we will be transported to Brisbane Royal Childrens hospital for surgery, tests and a treatment plan.
Well my life as we knew normal was now a nightmare...I have 3 older children how do u tell them that theie little baby sister is that sick and mummy wont be around for a while...Its heart breaking...
Her first surgery was only to remove as much as they could safely for classification of what type of tumor.
It was 2 weeks later we were told it is a Stage 4 Medulloblastoma PNET tumor.
Our treatment plan is one researched from the famous ST JUDES hospital in America.
It involved 4 months of intensive Chemotherapy, more surgery to remove remaining tumor, 30 sessions of radiation and a 6 month course of oral chemotherapy. We are at that stage now the 4th month of a 6 month plan..
Our next MRI is in MAy 2011 and that will determine the future..
As you can see by the video, Rylee is my hero......She has gone through what NO CHILD should have to, she has learnt words that NO CHILD should have to, (drugs, steroids, needles, chemo, hurties etc)
She is a happy two year and loves life....I love her with all of my self being and she makes me a better person...
We will fight this disease and we will fight for every child having to deal with it also and we will fight to our friends that have been sent to the Angels..
Please visit our hospital website www.workingwonders.com.au and you can see how our hospital are working wonders for our kids...
