@fisteberg It isn't that he's intolerant. He's ashamed, I think, of his own lack of education, and it makes him seem angry. He is the father, and wants his son to be proud of him, but doubts that a boy who so values book learning ever could.

@1mnmfan Yes Mr Edward is very unreasonable and intolerant with John.He cannot stand John is different than him.It is sad!But Mr Edward will change his mind fortunately because John is john and has his own wishes and dreams and is not Mr Edward.

i think mr edwards is being very unreasonable you cant force your child to do what you want them to do be supportive and get over it!

I always liked Grace....she was so precious and a good mom

John Jr. is so HOT!! I really prefered him over Adam.
-
@dhom100 He was a fictional character. Mary was never engaged in real life.
-
he also played in kung fu the kwai chang kane character as a child

@pellebravesskylar Yes they adopted John Jr., Carl, and Alicia. But I think Mr. Edwards took to John a little more than Carl maybe even because they were so opposite. He just didn't get John so that made him resent the idea of John becoming a writer which made him annoyed overall.. lol just saw that you wrote that comment over 2 years ago but i'll still respond =D
Lol the inside of the Edwards' home is the Garveys' home! Gotta love all the sets that are constantly used over and over in the show.

Grace is right. Fathers want all their kids to be like them because they're proud. and I think Mary was afraid of losing him. long distance relationships almost never work out. different experiences usually tear people apart. maybe that's why didn't end up getting married.
