Louis Armstrong in a concert in Stockholm Oct 23 1933. The first photo is of the orchestra at this concert.

I dedicate these two songs to the memory of Gösta Hägglöf (1934 - 2009), producer of the swedish Ambassador Records, a non-profit label dedicated to Louis Armstrong and his music.

  • A fantastic live recording of Louis Armstrong at a concert in Stockholm. Thanks very much for this great recording. I wonder how the audience reacted to Louis hitting one high note after another on Chinatown? I can hear the thunderous applause on the recording but I would have loved to see the looks on their faces. I would like to have heard the rest of Louis' solo on You Rascal You but the recording disc this was made on probably ran out of time.

  • I'm speachless... where on earth did this come from? wow!!!

  • The date was most likely Oct 28, and the men: Louis, plus: Charlie Johnson, Lionel Guimaraes, Fletcher Allen, Henry Tyree, Pete DuCongé, Justo Baretto, German Arago, Oliver Tines. You'll also see a photo of members of trumpetist ”Eric Lindys Elit-Orkester” (Eric Lindqvist), at the Birma dance saloon, Hornsg. 90, Stockholm.

  • He dances around the melody like a butterfly - what an unstoppable force! His playing soars above every other instrument in the band - go Louis!!!!!!

  • Dip forever !

  • This so wonderful. Pops live and very early in his carear.

  • Where would we be without these European recordings and performances.

  • As if this isn't hot enough to start, the tempo picks up to a blistering pace and barely keeps up with Louis' scorching high Cs. Somehow he has enough energy to roll on to a great version of You Rascal You - a great arrangement at that. What a trail-blazer!

  • Now this is what I"M TALKING ABOUT

  • Que maravilla, muchisimas gracias.

  • this is why i love youtube! thanks lingren-- keep the good stuff coming!
