The 51st State : South California

Thirteen mostly conservative California counties would break away to create a 51st state known as South California under a proposal by an elected official that would have to clear major hurdles to succeed.
Republican Jeff Stone has asked fellow members of the Riverside County Board of Supervisors to support a motion to bring together officials from the 13 counties to discuss the idea.

It's a good idea for California to divide up. It would allow for them to have a more equal representation in the Senate. Right now millions of Americans are being underrepresented in Congress because every state only gets 2 senators. They also need to make the presidential election through popular vote, and not electoral vote.

@rubixstetris The more conservative counties want more control over their own affairs and they don't want the liberals who control everything in Sacramento to make things even WORSE for them.

I don't think 13 countys will change it. It would have to be like elections. American citizens would have to vote on it.

51st state unlikely: Republican Jeff Stone is asking 13 conservative counties in Southern California to consider separating from the blue state. Gov. Jerry Brown's office calls the idea "a supremely ridiculous waste of everybody's time."
