This is a quick video demonstrating how easy it is to use the Cubase Beat Designer plugin with Native Instruments Battery 3. And when you load the drum maps in Cubase, it automatically populates the lanes in Beat Designer with the correct drum sound names.

I've added captions, for people who want to watch it with the volume down or people who just have a hard time understanding what I'm saying.

Additionally, I wrote a short blog post about why you might want to use Beat Designer with Battery in the first place, which you can find here:

  • thx!! this is what i was looking for.. just started using cubase so im a total noob... Quick question.. Can u list some other drum kits.. or give me a keyword to type.. not sure what you would called them. thx!!

  • @andersonjayson I use a ton of other programs for drums. I would also recommend checking out Addictive Drums, Stylus RMX for starters... they are two of my favorites.

  • great tut thanks!

  • thanks for the vid! ;) Hope you keep making more!

  • thanks for the video! Does anyone know of a way to cycle between different wave files on your hard drive while a specific pattern you've created with beat designer is triggering them to play in real time within your mix? Thanks ahead of time for the help!

  • @BLAZINBEATS123 If you use your own sounds, you'd have to first make a drum map in Cubase and name your sounds... and then do the stuff in the video above.

It might be more trouble than it's worth.. especially if your own sounds are not traditional drum types (i.e. are hard to meaningfully describe). It also might not be worth the trouble if you build a kit for each song you make, since you'd have to build a drum map for each song. I guess it depends on how complicated your drum programming is.
