You have a very pleasant voice, so I wish you would have sang this more simply. I found the extra rests and vocal flourishes distracting, as they take away from the earnestness of the song. He is being purposefully frank and straightforward with his singing, which emphasizes the honesty and introspection of the songwriting. Often the strongest way to sing a note is to simply sing the note.
