From the acclaimed, innovative post-rock movement of the 1990s to the challenge of being an independent artist today, director Augusto Contento's new documentary Parallax Sounds explores Chicago's world-famous architecture and its relationship to the extraordinary music created in its midst. Twenty years later, key members of the post-rock movement reflect upon their ideals, politics, and the survival of their art in the City That Works.

Parallax Sounds features:

David Grubbs — composer, singer, guitar player (Gastr del Sol, Bastro, Squirrel Bait)

Ken Vandermark — jazz musician, composer, improviser (Vandermark 5, Spaceway Inc., Flying Luttenbachers)

Damon Locks -- vocalist and keyboad player (The Eternals, Trenchmouth)

Steve Albini — producer (Nirvana, The Stooges, PJ Harvey, Pixies, Cheap Trick) and guitar player (Big Black, Rapeman, Shellac)

Azita Youssefi - singer and multi-instrumentalist (Bride of No No, Scissor Girls, solo)

Ian Williams - singer, guitar player and keyboard (Don Caballero, Storm & Stress, Battles)

The film's original soundtrack will be composed by Ken Vandermark, and will feature two new songs by David Grubbs. Steve Albini, John Herndon (Tortoise), Wayne Montana (The Eternals), Jason Adasiewicz (The Exploding Star Orchestra), Terrie Ex (The Ex) and others perform on the soundtrack.

Director Augusto Contento is the award-winning filmmaker of Tramas (Locarno Film Festival), Strade Trasparenti (Locarno Film Festival) and Roads of Water (Opening Night, Rome International Film Festival). Roads of Water, is the only film ever to be distributed by UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization.

FilmCritica Magazine recently named Augusto Contento one of Italy's most promising filmmakers of his generation.
