  • geogecho make a good point. At our dojo kokyunage is practised partly as a coordination and flow excercise and partly as a precursor to randoori

  • This is a demonstration of ko Kyu nage - breath throw exercise. It is structured for the safety of both "attacker" and "defender" and is used to develop body/breath coordination and to a certain extent strategy against multiple attackers. The next level of practise is "Randoori" when more earnest striking attacks are met with actual techniques as opposed to simply re-directing the energy.

  • * Ideal for the practitioners Thank you very much for this video.

    * Idéal pour les pratiquants

    Merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo.

  • The point of the exercise is to allow the Nage practice his/her throws. Also with Aikido, the more aggressive is your attack, the better chance for you to get hurt. After all, its your energy that is turned against you :)

  • LOL - well spotted. in an enclosed space it's always tempting to take hold occasionally and "steer' uke to safety. ;0)
