James Carter Quintet:

Gerald Gibbs - piano

23 July 2010 / XIII Festival de Jazz de San Javier
Auditorio del Parque Almansa (San Javier, Murcia)
that pianist had such a great solo. You can see how when he throws one of those long 16th note licks in there, its exactly what he has in mind. his mouth totally sings silently in unison with his playing. So seamlessly transitted from the soul and mind to the piano. I strive to play guitar the way he plays piano.

I met Gerald Gibbs at Cliff Bell's in Detroit and was shocked at how cool he was in person. He has enough chops where he could've totally been a dick like other well known people. He also played with the jam people on a B3 and rocked it out.

@djjjamin It helps to be a freaking genius. I've jammed with him numerous times, and he just buries me in the dirt! His whole family is a musical miracle.
