Full Contact Knife Attack Defenses.wmv

In this video you see what it is like when you do NOT have a compliant partner to work with during Knife Attacks! MOST Krav Maga programs around the world are rooted in the fantasy that they can disarm a knife wielding attacker. Stephan (the attacker in this video) out-weighed me by about 50 pounds and was as strong a person as I have ever worked with; including professional fighters, powerlifters, soldiers, law enforcement, etc... He was also quite skilled! Trying to stop him long enough to do a disarm would have been disastrous. My strategy instead, since this was training, was to see if I could strike him in the face while using a 360 degree block then circle away from the knife while continuing to strike hard and fast. As you can see, this would have given me time to escape, get to my firearm (since I am in law enforcement), or even drive him to the ground.... which I did accomplish once I began to perfect the method some.

Excellent Live knife defense training. This is what a call "Applied Krav Maga" which is the optimal way of training Krav Maga. Yes all the "technique" goes out of the window when we use non-compliant full contact attackers (which is closer to the real world). I wish the "Technique Krav Maga" people would figure this little fact out. We do a lot of this type training at Krav Maga Thailand see our youtube channel too for similar drills
