Unfortuantely, that is not true. However, the crash game made after this, Crash of the Titans, does support and drop in drop out co-op style of game.

Sorry for the late late reply but Crash of the titans, indeed in its campaign story mode, supports 2 players. It's a drop in drop out type of co-op....sorta similar to the Lego Star Wars games if you ever played that, where the second player practically has infinite lives. So whenever they die, the can immediately drop back in.

I love how Cortex still hangs around Crash even thought he's injured him several times and is dragging him around like a doll for most of the game XD
