Codenamed "Operation Barbarrosa" by Hitler, the battle was truly horrific. This documentary, The Great Battle of the Volga, focuses on the bravery and suffering of the Russian soldiers as they endure the tremendous attack by the well-equipped German army. That they could regroup and fight back with such ferocity is depicted, along with the terrible destruction caused by the Germans

Red Salute to the Soviet Red army members and its command for their ultimate Sacrifice for their win over the fascists Also the western media is too biased and do not fully acknowledge the sacrifices of the Soviets. Moreover, the Soviets were single handed when they went in to germany unlike the others , the americans ( who joined only when victory was certain), the british , canadians, the french and others in the west. More over the sacrifices by them are nothing compared to the Soviets.

HelenaXVI, Thanks for your good opinions. my father was one of Australia's famous '' RATS OF TOBRUK'' who got 5 bob a day, "50cents," to shoot Italians and Germans, so I got all the info of what happened. He said if Hitler didn't invade Russia, it would have taken England another 10 years to defeat Germany, if at all.
