A Violin In Vienna, composed and arranged by Art Strauss and Bob Dale.
The Footloose Dance Orchestra, on their recent North of England tour performs "A Violin in Vienna a Fox-Trot in G minor with music written by Art Struass and Bob Dale. Beautiful reflective and evocative vocals on this recording are sung by Helen Entwistle. The arrangement played by the FDO was published by Lawrence Wright Music Co. Ltd, Denmark Street, London in 1939. The FDO were inspired to perform this number after listening to the superlative arrangement by Mantovani and his Orchestra recorded in April 1939.
Another well known Art Strauss and Bob Dale collaboration was The Girl in the Upstairs Flat, sung by Al Bowlly with Ray Noble and his orchestra, and another great favourite from the FDO repertoire.
The FDO are dedicated to performing authentic music from the 1920/30s.
When popular music was good, and good music was popular
These videos are coming thick and fast. My trombone wants to join in with the haunting vocals.
