WAP4 24 coach mighty 12622 New Delhi Chennai Tamil Nadu express crawls and skips Mathura Junction, the pilot inspecting the station !!!

Once when a TTE told me that I can alight from TN express at Mathura when it skips past, I did not believe him. Now I do !!!

Many people thought it was their train and some exclaimed why train is not stopping !!!

Tamil Nadu was introduced as a tri-weekly train on 7th August 1976 by the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi and converted to a daily train by Madhav Rao Scindia in June 1988, who added the Gwalior additional halt.

Tamil Nadu Express is one of the 3 prestige 24 coach super fast trains of Southern Railways which are all tight schedule running trains.

Earlier days the Tamil Nadu and Kerala Expresses had non-stop runs of 410 km between New Delhi and Jhansi. Unfortunately all these trains have been forced to halt at more places due to political pressures. Yet these trains are given operational priority over other trains.

The Tamil Nadu Express used to do the stretch between Nagpur and Vijayawada (664 km) with technical halt at Balharshah.

Tamil Nadu express has no stops inside Tamilnadu except for the origin station !!!

12621 covers 2184 km in 33 hrs, average 68 km/hr and 10 halts.

12622 covers same distance in 32.40 hrs, average 69 km/hr and 9 halts.

12621 departs MAS 22:00 and arrives NDLS third day, 07:00.

12622 departs NDLS 22:30 and arrives MAS third day, 07:10.

12622 halts Agra 3 minutes, Gwalior 3 minutes, and Jhansi 12 minutes.

Does Jhansi - Bhopal non stop where it halts for 5 minutes. Then Itarsi 3 minutes, Nagpur 15 minutes, Balharshah 10 minutes, Warangal 2 minutes, Vijayawada 10 minutes.

Then non stop 431 km from Vijayawada to Chennai.

12621 halts Nagpur 10 minutes, Bhopal 10 minutes, Agra and Gwalior 1 minute. Has an additional halt at NZM 2 minutes.

@devsaab007 You are right. MTJ has both West and South bound traffic touching. I witnessed 4 overtakes in 10 minutes at Kosi Kalan which was unbelievable. That means trains followed with 150 seconds gap !!! I got all 4. Is that why we see back collisions near MTJ every time !!!

@TheSUDAU Kerala express has kichdi coaches as of now i.e. it is like a lottery if you can get a new coach. You maybe in 2010 coach but adjacent coach maybe 1996 !!! But internal cleanliness compared to many other trains is chalta hai maybe because of Kerala literacy. Thanks
