Alvin "Gobble-Gobble" York.

Alvin York DID use the Colt 1911 .45. to kill 7 Germans. The movie got it wrong by using a German P-08 Luger. This fact can very easily be verified at any city libeary or online. I once saw a huge painting or York that had the rifle all wrong that he used. He carried and used a 1917 Enfield, not a 1903 Springfield like in the movie. The painting shows him carrying a 1903A3, which were not even made until 1942-43.
Recently the .45 ACP hulls was found at York's battle that came from his 1911

Excellent York video - our website has details on York's exploit
Anyway - York had a Colt .45 Automatic Pistol - he was a squad leader - and all squad leaders were issued a sidearm. The movie used a Luger in that for the fact was the ycould not shoot blanks from a .45 at that time. But - could withthe Luger - hence - the change in the movie with the use of the Luger in lieu of the .45 Colt.

I'll tell you something that the army does'nt want to hear , he was a corporal ,
corporals didn't have side arms during battle he killed a german soldier and took his luger and when he was rushed by german soldiers shot the germans at a range of 75 feet killing all the charging soldiers , commanding officer ordered him to lie and say that he shot the germans with the US made colt .45 they still contend that he shot them with a .45 how history lies about the little facts .

@jhunted7667 how do you know that what you think is the truth is right?
mmkbye 2 years ago
@mmkbye well , if the army helped with the movie , what hand gun did he use
they were more honest then , and York would have wanted the truth told so why does the army today say that he used a american .45
