Here we go again. If Nader had spent any time in the last eight years building a viable third party, instead of throwing Hail-Mary passes, I'd have more respect for him. As it is, he deserves absolutely no respect whatsoever for a number of reasons.

Last time around Nader was backed by Koch's rightwing think tank/corporate front group, Citizens for a Sound Economy (now FreedomWorks) (1,2,3), so don't be surprised this time when the billionaire-financed rightwing attack machine Freedom's Watch backs him with their supposed $250 million dollar war chest. (4) I'm just saying. CNN's Abbi Tatton tells that Nader is saying that if he can "raise 10 million dollars and to rustle up enough lawyers to help him get ballot access, then he is definitely going to do this." We already know Ralph doesn't have a conscience problem with getting his back scratched by republicans. (5)

  • It's pretty obvious that Nader's not at all serious about politics at all. He just wants the corporate astro-turfs to shell out millions again trying to help him get on the ballot in the hopes that he'll help them steal a close state from the Dems. Th idea that the same corporations he railed against for so long will spend millions backing him is what Nader needs to get his rocks off anymore.

  • If Nader was even remotely serious about a third party he would have been active for years at the grass roots level: stumping for candidates for local and state offices, doing what it really takes.

Instead, his 11th hour (yawn) hail mary's, that got him just .38% of the vote in 04, are ridiculous.

  • In his previous runs in 2000 and 2004 Nader drew a lot of his support from registered Republicans and was illegally backed by Koch's rightwing think tank/corporate front group, Citizens for a Sound Economy (now FreedomWorks) because they hoped he would tip the scales their way in the close states.

Check the "About This Video: more" up top right for links.

  • If Nader had spent any time in the last eight years building a viable third party, instead of throwing 11th hr Hail-Mary passes and accepting support from Republicans and far rightwing corporate astroturfs (see the "About This Video" above right for further explanation w/ links), I'd have more respect for him. As it is, he deserves absolutely no respect whatsoever for a number of reasons.

  • Ralph Nader had every right to run, and people had every right to vote for him. The Democrats have no one to blame for their loss but themselves. The whole idea of the "spoiler" is based on the idea that the Democrats and Republicans deserve a monopoly on political power. It is utter nonsense.

  • Go Gravel! Go Nader!

  • Check out the Green Party/Partido Verde in 2012!

Look at how big is has become around the world!

    And it is only growing!

  • The little fucker killed the speck car GM's Corvair years ago. The evil stupid fuck is responsible for killing a good gas mileage car. He's an ass!!!! He is much more of a problem than the CORPORATIONS.

  • why couldn't they show Ralph's response at the end? as far as Ralph stealing people's votes, any candidate could be blamed for the same thing. let Nader participate in the debates... they're just afraid of the truth getting out to everyone. he's tried to help us over and over again, but is pushed aside by everyone. he's the most legitimate that iv seen. please people... be rational :D

    Vote Nader! 08

  • all the supreme court decided was to keep the actual vote count the actual vote count. The actual vote count indicated that Bush won Florida, and under the electoral college system therefore won the election. fair and square. Bush lost the popular vote, yes, but the system was set up so states would have more equal representation. If you don't like the system then try to get it changed constitutionally, but until then, you lost and really should get over it and move on. read the constitution.

  • Woohoo! The Republicrats (Democans?) are going to make sure that big corporate special interests win over the American people again! WooHoo! No matter which of the two parties wins, you lose.

Nothing will change. Both parties have been screwing things up for the last 100 years.

  • Tim did journalism proud. Vote Nader!

  • tim russert is such a tool! NADER DIDNT CAUSE THE LAST 7 YEARS. Lets be real. the dems (&republicans) were complicit on shutting out nader. They justifed shutting him out because they said he "wasnt going to be a signifigant candidate." Then when the dems lost they wana bitch and complain about "fairness" and how nader spolied everything for them. well, he must have been "a signifigant candidate" then, if he could spoil the whole election! 2 party DICTATORSHIP thats all i gota say!

  • woo hoo mccain! yeah RIGHT! you ust hate america if you like mccain. wake the FUCK up!

  • McCain is a blow hard

  • It would have been harder for Dubya to steal the election if the votes hadn't been close, which is how Nader's campaign hurt Gore. But, yes, it was corruption that took the presidency away from him. Or to be exact, the supreme court.

And it is issues like who will be appointed to the supreme court that worry me. I don't think we can afford to give our votes to Nader, (who I do like/respect), b/c there is too much at risk. It's not ideal, but there is a bigger picture to consider this year.
