  • Well, the guys at (REALCENT.ORG) are wrong! If they call them pennies, then why is their company called realcent.org!

  • @peacock80000 lol

  • I live in Canada, so we are lucky! Canadian cents made from 1942 - 1996 contain 98% copper so they have less than half of the impurities of US cents. Our nickels made from 1955 - 1981 are 99.9% pure nickel as well.

It is absolutely embarassing that the United States and Canada have had to resort to producing zinc and steel coinage. This is something you would expect from East Germany or some communist sh*thole.

  • @hathigmonorow Say whats your melt down laws consist off? ~ Any clue?

  • We live here in the United States! We use cents and NOT pennies. We live here in the United States and NOT ENGLAND! England=PENNIES US=CENTS!

  • @peacock80000 I stand corrected as your lèse- majesté in regards of thy Queen is noted & well received.

  • @peacock80000 When the guys at RealCent.org call them pennies, then they are pennies.

  • I too have been hoarding pennies and nickels for several years. As far as financial gain, however, why not just take the paper money and buy silver? It's easily convertible and takes less space. But then you eliminate the hunt, hobby. What you are doing is good. During inflation pennies might become worth 10 or 20 times face. In deflation you've lost nothing. How do you take the zinc ones back to bank?

  • @Begbucks It is still illegal to melt these coins here too, I'm not sure about exporting them though. I don't think there's a problem with that. The way the US and CDN dollar are both going though, it's only a matter of time before they need to revalue, or release a new currency so I don't think the ban will last forever. So far I have about 100 pounds of 98% copper and 50 pounds of 99.9% nickel

  • @wasstrop Although I must add that shows such as History Channel's "American Pickers" have vowed to offer a saving grace for my profession. Still somewhat of a late move for social acceptance of my career I employ the techniques I devised {& some similar to that of the show of picking to furnish my existence. Even if to acquire opulence at a substandard level of the poverty line.
