Royce Gracie's one year suspension and $2,500 fine will stand, the California State Athletic Commission said today.
'Royce Gracie's timeframe to appeal his suspension has expired. A formal appeal hearing request was not received in our office therefore the suspension and fine are final.'
The MMA legend tested positive for Nandrolone, an anabolic steroid, in a drug test administered for his June 2 bout with Kazushi Sakuraba at Dynamite!! USA.
Gracie won the three-round bout via unanimous decision, ending Sakuraba's undefeated streak against the Gracie family.
Sakuraba was also tested for banned substances and passed without incident.

They pretty much introduced MMA. But they always lacked one thing. They were terrible when it came to conditioning and sports medicine (steroids). They could no longer win any fights because of that.

@shiftslam one has only to look it up to find proof. He tested positive on two samples and was subsequently suspended for the remainder of his fight license by the California state athletic commision.

i remember reading, the type of steroid he used was a medical one, which doesn't enhance performance at all, but is still considered a banned substance in competition. It didn't allow him to become a better fighter, and he did not realise the medication he was taking was banned.
