@360391incinerator do what YOUR heart desires. I'm 15, i plan to join the marines, like my brother who is 4 years older then me, and like 3 of my uncles, and like both my grandfathers, and like one of their fathers. BUT even with a family of marines, one of my uncles joined the navy and served on a carrier and a sub. marines are the few and the proud. we are literally the first to fight. I can't wait to be one of the proud men to dawn that uniform and say "im a marine, Oorah!"

@reeceap92 The marines fall under the Department of the Navy but the highest ranking marine (Commandant of the Marine Corps) does not answer to a naval officer. The Chief of Naval Operations and CMC both sit on the JCOS and answer mainly to politicians particularly the Secretary of Defense. So yes they are part of the Navy and really could not sustain combat operations anywhere without Navy ships or air support.

@Soap1O more elite, but there not the first to hit that beach like these marines, marines come in hard with fierce fighting, fuck there first line of deffense up, once its secure they call in the army, after that its when the rangers come and go on spec op missions, search and destroy, get captured pows

@reeceap92 yeah the Marines are a department of the Navy...
The MENS department

@reeceap92 Look at it this way. We have five seperate branches of our military. The Coast Guard, Airforce, Army, Navy, and The Marines. The Marines are their own individual branch. But they're still part of the navy. What I mean is the marines are more land-oriented but it is the Navy who signs the Marines pay checks. They are not part of our special forces. Each branch has it's own individual special force. The Navy has the Navy Seals, The Army has the Rangers and Sappers, etc...

@reeceap92 what these guys say is correct, naval infanty. The marines unlike the army train more as a first wave forcible entry by sea. During WW2 in the pacific theatre was the idealistic utilization of the marines. Due to current operations they have had to adapt and take more of an army approach as a land force. Now that operations have slowed, they are once again returning to their "bread and butter" so to speak.

speaking of taking care of each other whats up with the marine corps vets being deported after honorable service and discharges?

@reeceap92 marines are the "rapid deploy force" they work in smaller numbers than the army and work in more amphibious situations. There the only US force that can be deployed under the direct order of the president.

@MrKatzenGreis oh yah our snipers took a "Semper Piss" on some people stupid enough to fuck with us. Unless you've been there you can't judge, so shut the fuck up
-
@sgtshoeman So you claim but history shows otherwise. Nice try. So your job is shining shoes? hahaha Did you plan to make yourself look foolish again? Please keep entertaining me, moron.

@reeceap92 The marine corps is it's own faction, and it's existence is protected by the constitution. They have their own special forces, i.e. the Force Recon or the scout snipers, witch are allot better than average.
and they do have ships, helicopter carriers, troop transports and landing ships.
So I'm from Australia and I was curious... Are Marines part of the Navy? And also, would they be the naval equivalent to the Army Rangers? Because I know Rangers are Special Forces and was curious if Marines were as well... I know I'll never be one, but it's good to know these boys are on our side.

@reeceap92 Marines are naval infantry, they often work with the navy but they separated them from the navy a long time ago. They basically got everything airplanes, tanks, infantry exept ships, they can be used as tip of the spear so you got a force which you can use for every situation where you're advancing. They got tanks but not nearly as much as the Army have, they got planes but not nearly as much as the airforce does. They got it all but not as much of everything.

@reeceap92 Marines Basic training is little harder than the Army's but the Rangers are part of special forces they're like super elite infantry. So they're actually better.
