I can't believe that a) the college offered this as a class and b) students paid money to take this class. While I agree that YouTube is a significant social force and that the sociological impact is something that might be worth studying, both the assignments as presented by the teacher and the teacher herself don't give this subject the weight it could have had.
Per the footage provided: this is a fluff class, an easy A, nothing but a GPA-boosting waste of space. :P
If you can't imagine that media could ever be more than mindless entertainment, that's all you will ever get out of it. too bad these folks commenting are unable to think for themselves what media should be.
Huh. I was just magically transported back to college and all of those worthless, boring liberal arts classes I had to take.
YouTube is ... supposed to be more interesting than this. YouTube is ... not an education device. YouTube is ... a distraction from the intellectual rigors of college, not a substitute for it.
Take your expectations and find someone who cares.
youtube is as interesting as you make of it and it is indefinitely an educational device.
Whether or not this class is effective or worthwhile is yet to be seen and of no fault to the subject at hand. Maybe it's the professor that you are taking an issue with.
