Last Sunday I was taking some underwater shots off the rocks at North Bondi. This stranded "Fairy Penguin"appeared from nowhere. A lifeguard (great guy) Scott Martin stood guard while his
friend and fellow lifesaver Kate Morony contacted WIRES, the wildlife volunteers. I shot this video as I got out of the water...this penguin apparently was going through his annual "moult" which is a time they leave their burrows and are in a weakened state so can end up beached. He happily waited with his lifesaver mate and enjoyed pruning himself. The WIRES volunteer took him all the way to the Taronga Park Zoo clinic where he is fattening up and will be released back into the wild ater his annual 'moult."being well looked after. Thankyou everyone.
The lifesavers take care of everyone...creatures great and small and they all volunteer their time, energy, expertise and care...Bravo....Kim
