How does Apple's newest phone compare in battery life during constant gaming?
With minimum brightness, but everything else cranked up, it lasted 3 hours 29 minutes, which is 53 minutes longer than the baseline (see part 1). This video is a time-lapse, showing a minute of gameplay every second.
I had to experiment with lighting & camera settings during this one, since minimum brightness is so much harder to see. The usual light I was using was blinding out the screen. So, the scene goes dark (some would say atmospheric!) for a bit in the beginning before I get the bright idea to turn on a light behind me that doesn't glare on the screen.
Games featured, in order of appearance:
0:00 Galaxy on Fire
1:43 DOOM Resurrection
2:09 Real Racing
2:35 Assassin's Creed
Settings:
Wi-Fi on
3G on
Sound at 50% volume
Minimum brightness (no auto-bright) -- The only change from the baseline in part 1
Location services on (and MobileMe "Find My iPhone" activated)
Bluetooth on (but nothing connected to it)
Fetch Mail Every 15 minutes
Push Mail On
Push Notifications On
Alert Sounds and Vibrations On
There you have it: keep the games going for almost 3 and a half hours just by sacrificing brightness alone. Fetching data so often still keeps a leash on your maximum battery life.
Subscriptions will be rewarded with leg humps. And also notification of when I upload my next video.
i think better will be: everything cranked up without sound or try; with sound on headphones ;)
