Panda TV is a video, which informs about the latest malware- and security facts as well as news regarding Panda Security and its products. We look forward to your comments, suggestions or questions.

Fake virus alerts spread across facebook
PandaLabs has just detected the massive propagation of a fake virus alert using facebook. This is just another attempt to infect users with fake antivirus programs. The fake warning is distributed via email and users are forwarding or publishing it on Facebook walls, thereby further spreading it out widely. The text of the fake warning reads as follows: - Has your facebook been running slow lately? Go to Settings and select application settings, change the dropdown box to added to profile. If you see one in there called un named app delete it Its an internal spybot. - There is no corresponding link, but if users search the Web for more information, they will encounter numerous malicious websites designed to download fake antiviruses, which in this case is cold LivePcCare.

Spam-mails as videos
Malware spreading via YouTube is a common method. Usually the first step is to post harmful tweets on Twitter, which link to a YouTube video. Normally, this is a fake site, which asks you to install some kind of codec to watch the video. But now the online criminals have gone one step further: Panda Security discovered a tweet, which directly link to the YouTube site and plays a real video. The video promotes a website for horse racing bets and turns out to be a multimedia presentation of a spam email. The branded site promises richness but first it demands 40 pounds for necessary software.
