canned pumpkin, it's probably Blue Hubbard squash

@LauraBeachnut: I would consider it from scratch, if it is out of season. Yet, if you use can pumpkin during the fall, then it is not from scratch.

@Prawnlet Hold on there ya little ankle biter, Apples, she'll be! I'm speaking for the United States, but right now pumpkins are not in season. WE have to wait till the fall. We just can't dig em up anytime we decide to have a B & S. So there is no need to Skite or to big-note oneself.
I am one who says, i it comes out of a can, then it is not from scratch !!
Well, trying to make peach cobbler with some fresh peaches out o season and even though it was palatable, it was quite Bodgy!

I don't think you need to blend the soup if it comes out of a can, unless you want a super creamy soup. If you want a thicker soup, just hand stir the pot.

@Prawnlet Here in the states you can do it either way. I usually do it with fresh candy pumpkins when it is in season, but when pumpkins are out of season I use the canned pumpkin mix. Its easier to use the canned pumpkin, because allot of the seasoning is already in it and its portable so if I am preparing the soup for a party in a different location its easier for me. Its not lazy, just efficient. I also add butternut squash when I can. Now I'm hungry. :-)
