@Andrewsmithinbosnia Good analysis.I thought Aashkenazy sounded a little rushed in his interpretation of this piece also.He's technically a brilliant player,but I thought he could've played the rhythms with more feel.

has a real baroque vibe to it rhythmically. i love the cadence -- not what youd expect at all!

So fast! Though it is marked allegro vivace, and Rachmaninoff himself tended to take faster tempos than some current pianists. But there's so much to hear in this, and the accompanying voices get lost, and lost too is the pacing for a gradual build-up. But of course it's still pretty amazing, especially to play those big chords so fast. Ashkenazy's tempos in these preludes seem faster than the tempos he normally chooses (which tend to be on the slower side)
