4 men were strapped to the side of his and another Apache and they landed and retrieved the body under very heavy fire in the middle of a main Taliban compound. It was a record breaking day for the Apache pilots :) Fortune favours the brave!

So can someone explain to me what he did? Was he the gunner/pilot of an apache and jumped out to save someone and then hung on the side of the apache or what? I know this is a stupid question it just sounds like an amazing act of bravery.

They had 2 choices:risk 80 million pounds of helicopters or a family not able to sleep that night so their command wasted 5 minutes of precious fuel bullocking around(if you read the book apache you should know that the Taliban planned to skin any soldier they find alive on a webcam broadcast all over the world

@trumpet190 I am talking about the fact that they didn't leave him behind although he was dead...that IS amazing...the brotherhood between these men IS amazing and the fact that it dosen't stop after ones death, that too IS amazing...

@anteracmacash no its not amazing... the lad they went in to rescue died, i imagine any soldier would of done this if the time arose, yes the soldiers were brave but so was the young lad who died

Don't forget the Marines that strapped themselves to the Apache. Considering that these aircraft are not designed to carry men. The marines that did this should have got the VC for this,including the gunner in the Apache that got out to help. God bless em and hope that ALL service men get home safe. AND THANKS TO ALL THAT SERVE!!!!
