The United States' first Islamic sorority - 21 July 07

Fraternities and sororities are the backbone of campus life for many students across the world, particularly for American students. But they're also synonymous with drinking and partying.

US Muslim women, however, have created Gamma Gamma Chi - the first Islamic sorority in the US.

Everywoman met some of the Gamma Ladies making the most of student life.

Do you have statistics? There are a LOT of Muslim sisters that do not wear Hijab. What difference does it make as long as Allah is in their hearts? Congratulations to these young women and their desire to do something for the betterment of their community.

Wonderful to see these talented Muslim girls. I hope Muslim men--this does not mean all Muslim men--will lose their chauvinism because the struggle to improve the lives of all Muslims will require the effort of Muslim women.
