Sylvester McCoy's first appearance as the new Doctor on "Blue Peter", 1987, plus the announcement of his casting on BBC News. And a thoroughly surreal bit of Colin Baker doing something for a famine appeal, apparently...

  • Best. Doctor. Ever. 'Nuff said. :D

  • ACE!!

  • @eateroftheflame Yep they always think that the next Dr. is going to be sh!t. And in Tennant's case, they were right.

  • Thanks for posting this footage. Americans would never have seen any of this.

  • The Doctor Who Appreciation Society, Britain's largest collection of irritable virgins.

  • Well thats certainly something i havent seen before, the Colin Baker bit is a bit odd :P or maybe it was just the coat

  • The hair! The hair!

  • Oh GOD, what is UP with that MUSIC?

  • It's always the same when there's a new Doctor, 6 weeks of "he's shit, David Tennant/Tom Baker was the best Doctor ever and everyone else is shit" then they end up liking him when they realise how dumb they were

  • hey i'm 5'6 too!!!!!

  • 2:40 - excuse me dwas??? Sylvester McCoy was an AMAZING doctor! :)

  • 2:12 win XD

  • @pupbenny ok

  • @roloboy97 You mean because some people say 1987-1996. Well he actually played it 1987-1989 and 1996. So actually only around 3 years.

  • wow bonnie must have lived a long time cause she was alive when I started watching in the 90's..

  • awww sylvester bless him his hopes were so high.

  • the 7th doctor was the longest dr

  • The death of Dr Who? When did this happen?. Doctor Who has never/will never die. Ok there was a time [a long time] that the Doctor wasent on TV but his adventures never stopped. BBC Books, Vergin Publications, Big Finish Audios, webcasts, DWM Comic strip, stage plays etc etc. Doctor Who will never ever die.

  • If the DWAS thought McCoy was bad, what must they think now?

  • @themindrobber Sylvester McCoy wasn't the death of Dr. Who. Michael Grade knocked it out a couple of times & then when it was awakened RTD shot it in the head, strangled it & held it under the water until it stopped moving & then it came back to life the disgusting, monstrous, subterranean, zombie-creature it is now. Oh & the Americans put a few curry stains on its best shirt.

  • Wow this must have been the Blue Peter neon light days lol

  • DWAS, all they do is fucking moan. Funny how here it is said that Sylvesters casting will be the death of Doctor Who, they normally say it was due to Bonnie Langford or Ken Dodds cameo.

Nice to see that clip of Colin though. His hair was utterly ridiculous and looked blow dried to oblivion

  • It certainly seems that way. Buncha elitist fanboys.

  • I agree
