This video shows the small half-improvised piece that I've been playing at the end of my PhD defense in Applied Sciences, in November 2009. It is called "Kubrick Tribute", in reference to some elements of Eyes Wide Shut (S. Kubrick, 1999) soundtrack. Everything is created live. The instrument is the HandSketch, an instrument I invented and the voice sounds result from my PhD synthesis software: RAMCESS.

  • Thanks for the subscription! This piece is simply incredible. I'm a huge fan of Eyes Wide Shut, and the male choir sampling is great :-) Have you heard Jonny Greenwood's soundtracks for Bodysong/There Will be Blood?

  • @chrisjhart221138 That's all the trick about this piece (and the whole PhD actually) : it's not sampling but an expressive human voice model ;-) That's why I can play all over the choir register in such a free way: bass, male and female lead singers. Thank you for this nice comment !
