  • For me, the ultimate closing scene of this opera. No one has ever done it better, not even Callas. Caballe is truly a goddess here.

  • One of those lyrical moments you cannot die without having cried hard with it.

  • Caballe is a true master of Bel Canto and a great interpreter but also an even greater tradegian ... simply...

  • 2:00 ... unmatched...

  • Oh my, what a tremendous performance! I am so glad I have it on DVD. Jon Vickers is perhaps my favorite tenor, for all his faults. Now, Montserrat as Norma...she touches the divine here, the voice, pianissimi, phrasing, low notes (and people dare say she had no chest register), stage presence, stamina against the mighty Mistral...fantastic! Just three great Normas in the 20th century: Ponselle, Callas and Caballe. Sutherland? Some beautiful moments but a big fat Zero on stage, God forgive me.

  • I wonder if the audience sensed that they had witnessed something important in musical history of opera performances, that evening. Thanks for posting this. I'm glad it has been preserved for us to see and hear today! ... the incredible singing of Montserrat Caballé.

  • too perfect
