This is the second time chet recorded this tune..this time with anoth guitar great.
If your ears are not used to those jazz chords, they may sound a little funny to you. But once you get accustomed to them, it's a feast for the ears!

  • Chet asserted that Lenny was better - who are we to argue with the man himself?

  • @mvp019 Let me put it this way. Chet was known for being very humble and self effacing.

  • @daffydoug Let me put it this way - both were great, but Lenny was better; he was doing things that all the great players of his day were amazed at.

  • @mvp019 Guitar players weren't amazed at Chet??

  • this is just beautiful. i love how they start the song on the 2nd half of the 32 bars, totally understated and elegant intro.

  • @saitamme Amazing, isn't it?

  • Chet was beyond words in ability and his contibution to the music industry. Lenny was a monster that Chet tried to save from the abyss of drugs. A triumphant but sad recording. Chet lived the full life and got the acolades. Lenny died too young.

    Thanks for the post.

  • Lenny was head and shoulders above any guitarist then or today!

  • @chaosIsTheOnlyPower Agree'd but even Chet thought of Lenny Breau as a genius and he actually was one of the few guitarists that could blow Chets mind...and even chet was known to say Lenny was the "BEST"

  • @jmcljazz so what... that's not what it is about.

  • @daffydoug I didn't say that - I love Chet and so do many others. He was one of the greats.

I recommend that you read "One Long Tune" by Forbes-Roberts - available on amazon, and I am quite certain you will enjoy reading it very much if you like guitar and guitarists. Then post here.

  • now THAT was fucking masterful.
