through time and trial I have learned that no matter how much you pay, nothing is RTR. shure tis ready to set on the tracks and look good. but its not ready to run on the main. I usually take the engines apart and clip off the motor springs by 1/3, removed the thick athearn grease and replace with labelle. and file the motor contacts. this applys even with those $110 rtr units. I do this every time before they even get there first trip around the pike.

Yeah, Athearn puts about 20 gallons to much oil on the power trucks so it gets all over everything!

remember, nothing is perfectly RTR. I always expect to do a little work to any new engine or car i get.
