i may be 14 yrs old but iris is my favorite character in the book

lilian is crazy and what ms.richard did to iris was wrong and matilda is creepy but not evil in my opinion

Unconventional thinking...provokes deep thought as she entwines and contrasts the cultures of the Kalinago, the Negre maron, the liberated and run away slaves, the runaway Lebanese, the ethnically paralyzed, the innocent Caucasian savior-nun in turn liberated...

You are brought there...feel the precipitous paths, complexity of life's perceived reality checks that span generations...
