Oil Discovery in Brazil

*Brazil's state-owned oil company Petrobas announced the discovery of a gigantic oil field Tupi, off Brazil's southeastern Atlantic coast, last November. The Tupi field reserves to between 5 billion and 8 billion barrels which is equivalent to 40 percent of all the oil discoveries in Brazil. In April, Petrobas says that it has discovered a new offshore oil field off the coast of Rio de Janeiro which is waiting to be confirmed. The new monster oil field appears to be the world's third-largest oil and gas reserve, bearing an estimated volume of 33 billion barrels of oil. When this new oil field is confirmed and made official, Brazil could become one of the top 10 countries by reserves and be a sulf-sufficient country in oil.
