visual interpretation inspired by danny fong

This is, unfortunately, going to be one of my last videos for a few months. I'm leaving on June 28th for the summer and I'm not getting back until the end of august. I'm going to try and get a couple of videos recorded before I leave and release them while I'm away so you all won't get bored.

This song was much more difficult that I anticipated when I decided to take it on, which made me enjoy it all the more! There are a few points in the song where the alto 1 and 2 parts (or soprano 1 and 2 parts) will trade off with each other, either every other phrase or every 3 notes or so. That's why I placed the voices where they are. To get an idea of this, you can listen with one headphone in if you'd like.

A lot of hard work went into this song and I would really appreciate it f you would show it to your friends or family or complete strangers that you meet in the park.

Enjoy!

  • Actually, this is my favorite production of all you've posted. But, I've always been fond of the "swingle" style since I first heard them in the early 1960's. It was almost considered a little "sacreligious" at the time, but it was a natural permutation of Bach, and I think he would have loved it! With this new technology available, I think you'll start to see college music majors be required to do multi-track projects as part of the curriculum--with some very creative results possible. hmmm..

  • @jimbopete69 thanks! this is one of my favorites too. That would be cool if this became something I could do for school.. but I don't think it will, just because while you could be the most amazing singer ever, most people don't have the range to do this.. so I don't think it will be required.

  • @jimbopete69 Well, I could see it in instrumental music also. Say piano students doing multi-track on multi-hand arrangements, violins, horns... or they could search out good singers and learn the software, etc. BTW.. Bach's music was considered sacreligious (showboating in church) at the time. And, only 1/3 of his music survived. It is said one of his sons (after his death) thought the written music was worthless, and used it to wrap the garbage! yikes.

  • @jimbopete69 yeah! that would be really cool! and wow, that's crazy about Bach

  • Nice job. Did you listen to Crossroads while you sang, or no?

  • @iluvsesshomaru09 not while I sang, no. But I did listen to them beforehand
