On 26 September 2000, waves pushed the MS Express Samina off course causing it to hit a group of rocks off Paros and sinks killing 80 people. The ferry was on autopilot with the crew not monitoring the ship's course, instead they were watching a football match.

This is not my video and they belong to their respected owners of Air Crash Investigation series and National Geographic Channel under Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.

There we go...I forgot the word for that (about to go to bed, I was tired).

But I figured if I could not remember the word for it, I would write the instructions on how to do so.

But it's amazing how many people don't know how to tread water.

  • I may not be a strong swimmer...But I have figured out great trick to stay afloat.

When in the water, only use half your lung capacity when breathing...keep the rest of the air in your lungs. Your lungs are great at keeping you buoyant. Don't scream unnecessarily.

Also, kick gently directly below you and use your arms as counter-steering/ balance at your sides just below the water surface...opposite of your leg movement. It worked during ROTC training in full gear!

  • thanks for the upload!i hope you will upload more of these kind of videos!

  • iceberg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The titanic was a huge vessel...

  • This ferry was completely rotten, like many other greek ferries operating domestic routes. it had lifejackets dated from 1970, damaged radar and the backup power failed to keep electricity after the flooding.
