This was the Helmet i made using Dax's tutorial and then after the triangles decided to wing it on my own.
For the triangles using what Dax supplied.

Take your cardboard and draw a line 60cm long, then mesaure up from one side 33 Degrees and then draw a line 100cm long. Then connect the base line *60cm one* and the other side of the 100cm line. The back angle should be about 122 Degrees.

Now the back Triangles i found easier to stick your protractor on the carboard and mark at 0 Degrees and 23 Degrees Then draw two line that follow these angles 70cm long. Now draw a centre line 80cm long. Then you want to do the whole 10cm rounded bit for shoulders now i can't help you with this i freehand drew mine but you get the idea.

I made card templates first to trace around. Made it so much easier.

Now Workmans helmet - cut the straps that cross in the middle this sinks it down lower, then cut off the front lip you can push it further up into the helmet.

The caps i made by working out the height of the pvc pipe adding on a little and the making a base length so you ended up with two triangles either side and one flat piece that made the slope. Polyiflla'd these and then sanded and covered in the sand mix.

Sorry theres no music i couldn't think of anything nice to go with it. ^^

Rest of the costume coming soon.

Thank you Dax/

  • too big

  • That is one sexy helm, man. Nice.

  • I'm not sure that's the right geometry of the thing. I used to think it had 5 sides, instead of 4, but after seeing 3:05, i guess its right.
