http://www.youtube.com/user/stamonicaparish#p/u The doctrine on the Assumption of our Blessed Mother was promulgated by Pope Pius XII in the year 1950. It was a time when the world was devastated by World War I and World War II. Hiroshima, Japan was bombed and Manila became a ghost city because of bombings. With this horrible background scenario, we have the IMAGE OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY AS A FIGURE OF HOPE.
The image of the Assumption is the image of the New Israel, the new humanity rising from the debris of World Wars I & II. Mary is the symbol of the New Church, the New Eve. The symbol of the woman giving birth is the symbol of the Church and every person undergoing reforms and rebirths in life.
Assumption becomes a reality whenever we reform ourselves and whenever we are reborn to many new realities, visions and attitudes in our life, because we have decided to live a new life and walk in the light of Christ.
The theological foundation of MARY'S ASSUMPTION is HER IMMACULATE CONCEPTION. Mary is full of grace and was not stained by original sin. SHE DID NOT EXPERIENCE DEATH, DECAY & CORRUPTION. Death, decay and corruption are the effects of sin. When we die, we are embalmed and when the power of embalming expires, we begin to decay. Mary's body remained intact and incorruptible because her body and soul ARE FULL OF GRACE. They were soaked in Christ.
The love between Jesus and Mary was so great that nothing can stand in the way to separate them. When we were young where mom is there we want to be. We live around the skirts of our mothers. Now that we are of age, where we are, there we want mom to be. When Christ ascended into heaven, he must have missed the presence of his mother so much. So one day while Mother Mary was sleeping soundly (DORMITION OF THE MOTHER OF GOD), he requested his angels to bring his mother, body and soul, into heaven.
