Android TV - Demo - Part 1

A demo on an android tv box as sold by various Chinese manufactures (flexiview.tv) and also Kogan in the UK and Australia. I have a unpacking video as well so you can see the unit and controller.

The box is connected to a 32" Sony Bravia, hard wired ethernet over a 10mpbs cable broadband connection. The box also has Wifi but I wasn't using it.

BBC iPlayer app never loads and shows as per the demo but it does work via the web browser. Its not very smooth even when in full screen mode.

Games play pretty well, Reckless Racing suits the android tv wii style controller quite well.

Media playback from was a USB 2 external HDD with a fast Samsung 16mb cache 7200rpm drive. Other than SD the unit cannot play mkv well or any HD material even though it is advertised as being able to do so. I tried many other clips and films, the example in the demo are typical.

Can i ask what the of CPU this Android TV box has? I just bought an android 2.3 TV box with a 1.2gb CPU & its fast...no lagging what so ever!

Can you please update your firmware to the latest October version and re-review the video playback? (Reports suggest that there has been big improvements)...

Just to clarify, you will find the required firmware inside the "FV-1 Android tv Firmware Éý¼¶Èí¼þ-English.rar.zip" file on the ftp site I mentioned in my previous post.

@albitox10 I have 10mb cable (not adsl) which speedtests constantly at over 10mb. I have a dual core server over gigabit cat6 cabling. Running from usb devices (Sandisk Extreme), USB HDD with throughput of 20 megabytes/per sec the box was unable to play media files well. Tetwork or local media all available way faster than the box could pull the data. The CPU was getting bogged down, its not that fast basically and Android build was poor quality. Only issues were the box!
