Our Percheron Mare Maggie is now the leader (not just because of her size) of this pack. The Rocky Mountain (RED) and the Icelandic (Vinka) have just recently joined our family. RED and Vinka were raised together on a wonderful breeding farm in West Virginia of Rocky Mountain and Icelandic horses. Red had just had a bath, so what do you think he did? Thats right, rolled in the dirt.... ughhhh
Thank you... it was difficult..... but because of the bute she was on (couldnt be prolonged use or it would have caused kidney failure) she was comfortable her last days, she spent every minute walking side by side, touching sometimes with her best friend Maggie... I kept a piece of her mane and braided it.... and we took her stall sign and have posted it on a tree along the path where we buried her heading to the back pasture... so that is now Chloe Lane.....we will miss you Chloe........

It was a very sad time around here with the loss of Chloe...she will be missed... but after 2 days of "calling for Chloe", (HEARTWRENCHING) she settled down and has adopted her new friends and seems much happier......

Oh my, yes.but she got Lyme disease and it destroyed her joints... we had her on antibiotics, and treated her with bute for pain as the vet prescribed... but she was in chronic pain and had to be put down just this week... it was very sad. In anticipation of this awful task, we purchased a Rocky Mountain who is under saddle and an Icelandic 3 year old that will be ready for training this coming spring. We wanted to have Maggie get used to new friends before having to put Chloe down....
